Jennifer Kennedy, Receptionist
In 2001 I uprooted from Birmingham, Al., married, began a family and found my calling in the veterinary field. At this time I began working along side Dr. Kayla Dougia and also met my now Practice Manager Joey Fourroux. I was immediately impressed by Dr. Dougia's gentle touch and sincere care for her patients. I told Dr. Dougia then when she opened her own practice I would love to be part of the team. Through the years I continued to develop my knowledge and experience in the field then happily in 2013 I was invited to join the team.
I believe there is so much more to this field than caring for the health of pets, but also caring for their owners. It is very important to me to develop a relationship with my clients so that I may better understand their situation and what I can do to accommodate their needs.
Briana Swaim, Veterinary Assisstant
Hi, My name is Briana Swaim. I started working in the vet field in 2009 as a kennel technician. It was then that I decided that my calling in life was animals. I am currently in school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I love all pets and have had many throughout my life. I love Meripets mainly because the relationships I have formed with the other staff and the ones I can form with our clients and their pets. I love being able to help animals when they are sick to get better. I also love healthy visits and watching them grow from babies to senior patients. I got married in 2012 to Justin and we have a little girl name Brinlee. I currently have two pets, Trigger, a yellow lab and Lucy, a yorkie mix. I'm looking forward to meeting all our client and the relationships we build.
Kym Hamley, Certified Veterinary Assistant
In June 2016 I finished my vet assistant program at Ross Medical Education Center. I knew I always wanted to work with animals ever since I was little. I would take stray animals in and nurse them back to health by feeding them and making sure they had a warm place to sleep. I am excited to be given the opportunity to work at Meridianville Pet Hospital and apply my care giving skills.
Emily Edwards, Kennel & Veterinary Assistant
I have had a love for animals all my life and always knew I wanted to work with them. In 2006 I started my first job working in the veterinary field as a kennel technician. While working at that clinic I met Dr. Dougia. I have three dogs, Lt. Dan, a mix, Snow, a spitz (both adopted while working at my first clinic) and Nala, a chihuahua. I am so excited to be a part of the Meripet staff and I am looking forward to getting to know each client.
